Perjury and Related Offences

Share:

Government has recently approved amendments which will broaden the scope of the Perjury and Related Offences Bill and seeks to put perjury on a statutory footing. This will make the offence easier to prosecute. Perjury is currently a common law offence and is rarely prosecuted. Minister for Justice and Equality, Charlie Flanagan TD,  expects that the new provisions to be of assistance in dealing with cases of insurance fraud.
